Your plastic comes dry and sealed with desiccants on a 1kg (2.2 lbs) spool so convenient you won't know how you survived buying straight coils.
4043D PLA has become the tried and true plastic filament of the RepRap community as well as the plastic of choice for hobby printers such as Makergear's Mosaic and Ultimaker. PLA's quick solid to liquid transition characteristic creates smooth printed objects and is pushing the boundaries of printing speed and resolution. PLA warps significantly less than ABS and does not require a heated print bed, though using one can greatly increase ease of use.
Natural 4043D PLA is also a responsible plastic to use as it is made from renewable resources such as corn and sugar cane, is certified food safe per section 201(s) of the Federal, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, and Parts 182, 184, and 186 of the Food Additive Regulations, and can be composted per ASTM D6400 of the Biodegradable Products Institute.
Due to the fact that many printers are operated with open-air sides in closed environments, PLA's low fume emission and sugary smell make it a good pick for printers operating in public areas with limited ventilation such as schools, museums, and homes.
PLA has a processing temperature of 200C and prints superbly well to a Polyimide Tape covered print bed heated to 50C. Blue tape on an unheated print bed is also common, though one will find large printed objects will have a tendency to warp and curl off the print surface. Due to its seemless surface and ability to perform well with many different plastics, we find the most robust and carefree choice to be our wide form Polyimide Tape.
